The rebranding of the racket sports club

We carried out a comprehensive brand renewal that emphasises quality, timelessness and a diverse range of species.

Smash is Finland’s largest racquet sports club. It offers high-quality coaching, courses, events and competitions in Helsinki, Espoo and Kotka, promoting the development of amateur and competitive players of all ages and levels.

The journey towards a more coherent and stronger brand

We rebranded Smash to support its growth strategy. A website design, an interior refresh, a modernisation of the club’s apparel and a mascot design brought a new look and energy to the club.

Starting point

The club needed a full rebrand as part of its new strategy—emphasising quality, timelessness, and inclusivity. A central goal was to rebrand while retaining the familiar red and blue, presenting them in a way that aligned with the club’s modernised vision.

There was also a clear need to redesign the website and booking system look and feel based on the brand book to ensure consistent and attractive communication. There was also a great need to translate the look into concrete objects, such as clubwear and the interior design of the hall.

Search engine optimisation, paid advertising and developing social media visibility were key areas where the client needed support.

Result

The result was a youthful and timeless brand that reflects the club’s values and goals. The renewed look was comprehensively implemented in various areas, such as the website, the booking system, club clothing and the interior design of the Smash Center. We also designed a new mascot for the club to bring personality and fun to the communication of junior activities.

On the marketing and search engine optimisation side, the club got a good start in improving visibility and implementing marketing and communications.

Brand renewal

The brand was built in close collaboration with the client, as meaningful rebranding simply isn’t possible without a deep understanding of the client and their vision. The result was a comprehensive brand book, with the new identity brought to life across multiple touchpoints—including the website, apparel, interior design, and marketing materials.

Website and backup renewal

We designed the user experience and layout of the website in collaboration with the technical developer. We also created a layout plan for the booking system.

Digital marketing

We implemented a plan for search engine optimisation of website content, updated the marketing ecosystem and conversion tracking. We designed search campaigns for Google Ads.

We also organised training sessions to equip the club team to manage communication independently.

Turnkey K-Man campaigns

Qmea implemented two campaigns for Kesko Corporation – a Christmas campaign and a summer campaign – for which we created the K-Man character from Plus with a familiar but modern concept.

The campaigns were implemented as HTML5 games on a turnkey basis, including the game website, background system, graphics, music and hosting solution. The game was implemented on a game platform developed by Qmea using Javascript and 2d technology. The background system recorded the players’ scores and the email addresses requested from the players. Our hosting solution ensured that the game was safely and securely available during the campaign period, even with a high user load.

Gamification in marketing

At its best, even a simple game leaves a lasting impression. We received a lot of good feedback on K-Man, with some people eager to play the game for a long time in order to get on the high score list. The game’s score recording, high score ranking and social media integration with the sharing function helped create a viral phenomenon.

Radio production control system

We implemented a custom ERP solution to manage radio programmes and series and to make the everyday life of employees easier.

Radio Patmos is a Christian radio station broadcast widely on Finnish radio frequencies and online, which produces a large number of high quality radio programmes.

Custom ERP system using cloud services

Starting point

The customer wanted to manage the kits and programs through a simple interface. They wanted a number of automation functionalities in the system to facilitate the work of their staff.

Project components

The project was designed and implemented as a fully custom solution to meet the client’s needs.
The programme map can be easily filled in and edited using the Fullcalendar library interface.
Studio and employee calendar bookings can be managed directly from the system using Microsoft’s Graph API for Exchange Online.
Other M365 integrations were also implemented, such as the integration of Azure AD with user management. Amazon S3 is used to store and distribute radio programmes.
The service was implemented on top of the Drupal platform and is run on a server cluster created by Qmea, where updates do not cause service interruptions.

Result

The customer received a comprehensive and easy-to-use solution to control radio production. Due to the clustered server solution, there are no service interruptions.

After the actual project, the ongoing update service and further development of the system will be continued our close cooperation.

Together with the client, we have also carried out a major website redesign, integrating the RATSU radio programme library for listening to media content.

Media platform with seamless player experience

We implemented a media platform for the client, where the call continues uninterrupted while browsing the different contents and sub-pages of the website. The goal was to have a media site that plays both podcasts and videos and serves as a showcase for the association’s various media. This objective was achieved in good cooperation with the client.





A modern and flexible media platform built for Kansanlähetys

The aim is to have a media site that plays both podcasts and videos, acting as a showcase for the association’s various media. A media platform that provides a seamless experience for users. A media platform where playback continues uninterrupted while browsing content and sub-pages.

Starting point

The client wanted a modern and user-friendly media site that would meet their diverse needs and provide a seamless user experience. They wanted a media player that would continuously play podcast or video, allowing podcasts, YouTube videos and local audio files (up to 6000) to play in the background as the user navigated through the different sections of the site. Other needs included a search feature, easy-to-use forms and a visually appealing and youthful look that would appeal to users and make consuming media content a pleasant experience.

Explore the outcome

Result

The client got a modern and user-friendly media site. The site includes a continuous media player that allows users to enjoy podcasts, YouTube videos and thousands of local audio files as they navigate through the different sections of the site.

In addition, a search function, clear forms and a fresh new look were created. The implementation allows for smooth content management and seamless access across all environments.

Flexible and modern Web app networking solution

The end result was implemented as a headless implementation using React-based code. We used WordPress as the content management system, which allowed for easy content maintenance. We also used modern technologies such as Next.js, Typescript, Tailwind and GraphQL to ensure the speed and flexibility of the site. To import content from external sources, such as YouTube and podcast services, we integrated API connectors into the system to ensure seamless functionality.

As a web app solution

To achieve a seamless user experience while keeping the player “floating” when browsing the site, the core of the solution was a Single Page App, where we took advantage of the headless implementation.

Headless implementation in the background

Headless implementation is a website or application structure where the front-end and the content management system (CMS, e.g. WordPress) operate as separate components.
The website seen by the user (front-end) retrieves the necessary content from the back-end system through interfaces, but they are not tightly coupled as in traditional websites.
This allows for greater flexibility, speed and the use of modern technologies to build the front-end.

React-based code

React is a JavaScript library designed for creating modern and interactive user interfaces.
With React, the front-end was implemented as a dynamic and powerful interface that can work independently and retrieve content from the back-end system.

Designing the look

We designed and implemented a visual identity for the client that was in line with the target group and objectives of the service. We also designed the KL-media logo.

UX and UI design for the media platform

We focused on a clear and user-friendly service, where each section is logically structured and easy to navigate.
The user interface was designed to support the media focus of the service, and the media viewer was seamlessly integrated into the interface.

Technical design and implementation

We carried out the technical design and implementation in a comprehensive and professional manner, focusing on a fast, flexible and user-friendly solution.
The site was built to support both smooth content management and excellent user experience, using modern technologies and external service integrations.

Project management

We also provided project management, which included careful preparation, close cooperation with the client and successful completion of the project on time.
From the outset, we ensured that the client’s needs, objectives and stakeholders were taken into account to ensure that the end result would best support the business.

Major overhaul of online services for the Foundation

Qmea implemented a modern digital package for the Patmos Mission Foundation, which included a new look, brand guide, extensive website redesign, online store and radio operations management system. At the heart of the project were intelligent solutions such as dynamic forms, customer management integrations, and a unique donation tool that responds to user needs.

The cooperation also includes ongoing monitoring and updating services, which will be used to further develop the website and other activities in the desired direction.

Patmos Missionary Foundation is a co-christian, non-denominational mission and relief organisation.

Website redesign as an essential part of the total transformation of the entire online presence

The redesign results in an easy-to-use, efficient and modern website

Starting point

The client wanted a modern website in terms of usability, integration and design. The core functionality of the website was to provide a secure and easy way to donate.

Patmos wanted an easy, quick and efficient way for staff or stakeholders to update the content of the website.

Project components

Website was implemented according to the customer’s needs, including the following features:

dynamic and intelligent holiday solutions that integrate with CRM and other relevant systems
newsletter automation
e-commerce integration with accounting system (Procountor)
a donation tool with features tailored to the needs of Patmos.

The service was implemented WordPress platform and Woocommerce on. It is run on a cluster of servers created by Qmea, where updates do not cause service interruptions.



The donation tool allows you to donate securely:

- - It responds dynamically to user navigation.
  - The background is the integration of the payment system.
  - Svelte was chosen as the code language for the implementation.



Result

The new website solution is a more agile and faster overall platform solution for website maintenance, without compromising security and continuity. It integrates with other systems and adapts to changing needs.
